With all of the news that rolls through every day, we know it can be hard to keep track of all of the new things here in Chattanooga. So, we thought we’d recap/highlight 16 new businesses we think you might like to know about … just in case you missed them. 😉

There’s something for everyone in here: Peruvian restaurants, websites that help international students get jobs, free downtown rides, internet cafes and more.

Food + Drink:

Kenny’s Southside Sandwiches 🍔

This specialty sandwich shop, which opened in late June, serves only breakfast and lunch but has a long list of menu items like pork belly banh and meatball subs. The restaurant also has a variety of salads, soups, sides and plates to choose from for those not in the mood for a sandwich.

Scottie’s on the River 🍤🍖

This restaurant, owned by the same people as NorthShore’s The Big Chill and Grill, features a higher-end dining experience and specializes in steak and seafood.

Friday & Saturday: 11 a.m. to 12 a.m.

Old Gilman Grill 🍷

The Old Gilman Grill describes itself as “upscale American dining with a French twist” with dishes like cabernet braised beef short rib, grilled local trout almondine, and plenty of crepes (sweet & savory) to choose from.

The 405 Mid-East Bistro 🥙

Opened up at the end of August, this bistro offers a wide variety of middle eastern foods like hummus, falafels, shish kebabs, and braised lamb.

State of Confusion 🥑🍸

This restaurant, opened August 20 by the owners of Stir, specializes in Peruvian-style foods mixed with Louisiana and East Coast flair. The menu features dishes like seared shrimp, pecan-crusted rainbow trout, cauliflower steak and several types of ceviche.

Mexiville NorthShore 🌮

Mexiville recently opened its second location in Northshore (the first is downtown) and features the same food but with a much wider draught beer selection with 23 taps and a “killer happy hour,” according to the Chattanooga Times Free Press.

Your Local Seitanist 🍞

Owner Linley Danielle built this business in order to fill a void she saw in Chattanooga’s vegan culture with dishes that use seitan as the main component. Her seitan jerkies, pot roasts and baked goods can usually be found at the Brainerd Farmers Market. Updates on where goods will be updated on the Facebook page.

Parkway Pourhouse 🥘

This restaurant, owned by the same businesses as Tremont Tavern and Feed Co. & Supply, focuses on New Orleans-type cuisine. Menu choices include cajun dry-rubbed wings, gulf redfish tacos, gumbo and a selection of poor boy sandwiches.

ChattyWagon 🚌

This eco-friendly electric golf car maneuvering its way through city streets offers free rides to Chattanoogans needing to get around downtown. To grab a ride, a passenger just needs to download the company’s app to request the ChattyWagon come to them.

Gig City Games 🎮

This internet cafe opened in late August, intended to bring like-minded video game enthusiasts together and out of their houses. Customers can spend $5 an hour to use one of the cafe’s 25 computers to play almost any competitive game.

Work and Travel Cultural Exchange Program 🇯🇵🇸🇦

WATCEP is a new online platform that started here in Chattanooga meant to help connect recent international college graduates to employers in the area that are happy to hire internationals.

WorkinChattanooga 💼

This is a Chattanooga-specific job board where local businesses can go to post their job for as little as $1 for 15 days and searchers can go to avoid the weird “work-from-home opportunities” on sites like Craigslist.

Shops:

Green Door Toys 🕹

This toy store that opened up back in June sells both vintage and modern toys, comic books, video games, and collectibles in their brick-and-mortar location and through their eBay account.

True Value Hardware at Oakbrook 🛠

This store has everything from building materials to tools to lighting options and ceiling fans to supplies for pets.

Tractor Supply Co. 🚜

This chain specializes in livestock supplies, gardening tools, and other outdoor necessities opened its new location next door to the new ALDI location.

Fox & Fern Botanical Styling 💐

This floral design business, which opened a West End location in late July, specializes in creating floral pieces for weddings, other special events or just something to brighten up your home.
