When you look around the space you call home, do you ever consider what features might have been a sign of the times? We sat down with Pratt Home Builders to discuss house trends that are on the forefront for 2025.
This company has been building homes in Chattanooga since 1998, and President Jennifer Dorsey + her team — Brittany Shaw, Sharon Chase, and Jen Martin — are all about staying on top of what’s current in the market.
With the help of Chase, who is the director of design, we’re breaking down some ins and outs you might see take over the real estate market + when you begin your building journey with the company.
Sweeping the nation
- Grays are out, earthy + muted blue and green tones with accents of terracotta are in
- Richer wood tones + mixed-metal plumbing styles
- Mosaic tiles will be seen in backsplashes and bathroom accents + fluid-line design, like arched doorways and curved furniture, are making a come up
The Chattanooga style
- Pops of brightness + calming colors that match our outdoors scene — think: bluff tones in furniture
- Granite’s out, quartz is trending (often being a price point that is prioritized) + luxury vinyl plank flooring — good for all of the doggo owners
- Bermuda sod (no irrigation required), energy-efficient windows, low-flow toilets
Trending for Pratt Home Builders
This company has built several communities throughout the Greater Chattanooga area + is diving into the townhome sector.
“I love the townhome product because I think it really suits a kind of transitional house need for a lot of people,” said Dorsey.
Each resident, no matter what neighborhood they choose, will be able to experience several features that are key to the Pratt living style.
Think: Newly installed little libraries, sidewalks on both sides of the street, pocket parks with pollinator gardens, pools + a replenishment of the trees cut down during development.
Shaw said they also instill pride in place within each community, even in the smallest of details — like naming each street within The Inlet in Soddy-Daisy after local fish.
