With everything from brunch spots galore and perfect burger joints to bakeries and vegan cafés, Chattanooga isn’t messing around when it comes to offering amazing eateries.
There’s hundreds of restaurant options throughout Chattanooga and several restaurants set to open in 2022, such as Slim & Husky’s Pizza Beeria coming this spring.
But what restaurants, if any, is Chattanooga’s restaurant scene missing?
We stumbled across this Reddit post by u/walkaway2 where several users voiced their opinions on what types of cuisine Chattanooga is lacking. Here’s a few of those suggestions:
🥩 Korean BBQ
Korean BBQ is a method of grilling meat — typically beef, pork, or chicken — on grills that are built into the tables. Restaurant-goers prepare the food themselves, providing a unique cooking experience + opportunity to create your own flavors.
Psst, good news for the folks craving Korean BBQ. Zaya Korean Steakhouse offers this incredible dining experience in Northshore.
🍲 Hot Pot
Similar to Korean BBQ, Hot pot is a Chinese cooking method where a pot filled with simmering soup stock is provided at the dinner table. A variety of meats, vegetables, and other raw ingredients are provided to add to the pot.
🥟 Dim Sum
Dim Sum is a large range of Chinese steamed bun dishes that are typically served for breakfast.
Editor Kristen here, consider this my public plea for dim sum recommendations.
🍜 Pho
A Vietnamese soup dish consisting of broth, rice noodles, spices, and meat or tofu.
Chopstix Viet Bistro has Pho on their menu, but we would love to have more Pho options. Know of any? Send them here.
🇪🇹 Ethiopian
Ethiopian cuisine typically consists of spicy + strong flavors with meat and vegetables. If you haven’t tried this cuisine before, we highly recommend it.
We’re still holding out hopes that Adey Ethiopian Eatery will return.
🥯 Bagels
We heard your cries for a NYC bagel shop in Chattanooga, and luckily, we found some local spots that have delicious bagels without traveling to Queens.
Are there other restaurants you think are missing from the Chattanooga food scene, or do you know of a local spot that serves these cuisines? Send your thoughts + recommendations our way.
