A guide to trivia nights in NOOGA

Ahh, trivia night at the local Chattanooga bar. Where else can you flex your encyclopedic knowledge of random sports trivia, pop culture references and geographical facts? Of course, I know the three countries that border Suriname. Don’t you? 🌍

Even though that wellspring of knowledge isn’t relevant to your daily life, at trivia night (i.e. Pub Quiz) you can obtain an Einstein level of genius + the respect from your peers and opponents for knowing obscure Beatles lyrics, Pokémon facts + how many hot dogs Joey Chestnut can stomach. And you might even win a free pitcher of beer or a gift card, too.

It all started in the 1970s in the U.K. with local pubs offering trivia to help bring in patrons on slow nights. But trivia night has turned into a cultural phenomenon with millions of people competing weekly for a chance at cash prizes.

NOOGA has at least ten trivia nights happening every weekand there are other random one-off themed events like “Friends,” “Harry Potter” and just “the 90s.” You just have to show up and play.

Trivia nights in Chattanooga

Tremont Tavern, 1203 Hixson Pike | Mondays at 8 p.m.
Tremont Tavern offers an eclectic trivia night, with topics ranging from sports to politics and a final cinema round. The “true loser” of the night is the team that loses the weekly chug off. Be sure to snag a burger while you’re there.

Wanderlinger Brewing Company, 1208 King Street | Mondays at 7:00 p.m.
This free trivia night at Wanderlinger Brewing Co. has prizes for the first and second place winners.

Brewhaus, 224 Frazier Ave | Tuesdays at 7:30 p.m.
Chattanooga’s only German-American gastropub hosts a weekly trivia night put on by Live Trivia.

Moxy Chattanooga, 1220 King Street | Tuesdays at 7:30 p.m.
The recently developed hotel in the middle of downtown also hosts a Tuesday trivia night.

Oddstory Brewing Company, 335 E MLK Blvd.| Wednesdays at 7:30 p.m.
What is better than drinking beer and winning prizes? This MLK brewery hosts trivia night every Wednesday from 7:30-9 p.m.

Tap House, 3800 St. Elmo Ave. | Wednesdays at 7:30 p.m.
Use your brain where it really matters! Enjoy a beer and a sandwich while you test your knowledge for prizes. The top 3 teams get Tap House gift cards.

Hair of the Dog, 334 Market St. | Wednesdays at 9 p.m. |
Arguably, the most eclectic of the pub quizzes, host Eddie Bridges is known for his amazing prizes and difficult questions.

Jefferson’s, 618 Georgia Ave | Wednesdays at 7:30 p.m. |
A popular trivia night location for UTC students and alumni alike.

Mexiville (Downtown), 811 Market St. | Thursdays at 7:30 p.m. |
Mexiville brings Mexican cuisine (tacos, anybody?) and trivia to the city center each Thursday night.

Amigo Mexican Restaurant, 5450 TN-153 | Fridays at 7:30 p.m. |
Hixson trivia night for those who like a little brain burst to start the weekend.

Honest Pint, 35 Patten Pkwy | Sundays at 4:00 p.m. |
Who doesn’t love a lazy Sunday afternoon trivia at the pub?
