Organizers with Chattanooga-based GreenSteps, along with The Wilderness Society, will host a cleanup event on Saturday at the Tennessee RiverPark. Locals can help pick up trash at the Chickamauga Dam from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Food and supplies will be provided. Volunteers should wear closed toed shoes and appropriate clothing. Lunch will be provided for volunteers. The Wilderness Society has been the leading organization protecting the nation’s shared public lands since 1935. Through its conservation and public engagement efforts, it works to preserve the nation’s rich natural legacy for future generations. GreenSteps educates and assists the local community in eliminating litter around popular trails, parks and open spaces, providing incentives for the removal of trash.
