If you’ve walked or driven through the West Village lately, you may have noticed some shuffling. Antibes is going through a remodel, Easy Bistro & Bar has taken over Alimentari + Paloma, and Elea Blake Cosmetics isn’t there anymore (don’t fret — they just moved).
It all fits together like a puzzle, so if you’ve been wondering what is happening in one of our favorite corners of Chattanooga, we’re here to put the pieces together for you.
What’s open?
- Alimentari Café & Market — In addition to the restaurant transitioning into a new space at the Westin, Alimentari opened a café and market at the corner of Chestnut St. + MLK Blvd. that serves lunch — think personal pizzas, sandwiches, and salads — and marketplace goods — think dry pasta, oil + vinegar, and bread.
- Antibes pop-up — This upscale boutique is currently undergoing a remodel, and while the space is being perfected, you can find clothing, gifts, and accessories at its temporary space at the corner of 8th + Chestnut. Note: they are doing away with their men’s department.
- Bode — The boutique hotel is open and accepting bookings.
- Easy Bistro & Bar — One of the most ambitious projects in the West Village this year, Easy Bar & Bistro (owned by James Beard nominated chef Erik Niel + his wife, Amanda) moved from their longtime location on Broad Street to the space that used to house Alimentari and Paloma. The space where Paloma was is now used for private events, and Easy has an open kitchen, full bar, and relaxed atmosphere. They are officially open seven days a week, and reservations are recommended. ProTip: Oyster hour is from 4-6 p.m. every evening, and you can order six different varieties of oyster from all three US coasts at a buy one get one price. Hours + menu here.
- Fox and Fern Style — This floral design studio is open for all your flower needs, from fresh bouquets to spruce up your home to beautiful dried creations (fall wreath anyone?).
- Innside Restaurant — This classic breakfast + lunch spot is open and as delicious as ever and is proof that West Village has it all, from fine dining to grits and patty melts. Check out this blog post from Chattavore for a rundown of what an Innsider experience is like.
- Old Gilman Grill — Open + adding lunch hours starting on Thurs., Oct. 1. They are also doing weekend brunch again, and they are asking that you make reservations.
- Paloma — The popular tapas bar moved to the top of the Westin (it used to be Alchemy). There’s a new menu + new rooftop views. Hours are here.
- Peet’s Coffee — Open and serving the coffee you know and love. ProTip: try the seasonally inspired maple + pumpkin lattes.
- The Strand — This eco-conscious hair salon is open and celebrating National Hair Day on Wed., Sept. 30 with a gift giveaway. You can book an appointment here.
What’s coming soon?
- Alimentari Cucina e Bar — This Italian favorite is moving into the lobby of the Westin. Once reopened, there will be a brand new menu.
- Indigo — This new hotel is opening on Wed., Sept. 30. (That’s tomorrow!) They invite the public to happy hour 4-6 p.m. for half-price draft beer, house liquor drinks, and house wine. Happy hour will occur seven days a week.
- Pinkberry — This frozen yogurt shop is reopening soon (TBA), and we can’t wait to get our hands on an Açai smoothie again.
What has closed or moved out of the West Village?
- Alchemy — This concept has closed and is now Paloma (see above).
- Anastasia’ Old World Deli — This deli that opened in 2019 has closed, and it’s unclear if the doors will be shut temporarily or permanently.
- Citron et Sel — A sign on the door states this restaurant + bar (known for its tequila varieties) is closed until further notice. It seems this will be temporary, and we do not have details on when it will reopen.
- Elea Blake Cosmetics — Still open, just in a new location. Get your makeup, custom blended for your skin tone, at their new location on Brainerd Rd.
