A local entrepreneur is offering businesses interested in public relations the opportunity to take a three-month mentoring program online. “My goal is to provide businesses an opportunity to come together in a live forum, online, and learn the various aspects of public relations and marketing while networking,” founder of Wildflower Promotions and Media Management Mindy Quinn said in a prepared statement. The three-month program, which costs $300 a month, will offer six 90-minute online classes. The classes will include steps on how to strategize and create a public relations plan, develop a database of media contacts, write and distribute news releases and media pitches, plan major events, crisis communications and more. In addition to the classes, participants will have a one on one strategy call and access via email to send releases and pitches to Quinn for review. “I am a very creative, out-of-the-box thinker who has made magic happen with shoestring budgets, and I want to empower others to do the same,” Quinn said. “Not everyone can afford to hire a PR firm to do the work for them” Quinn has spent 25 years in the nonprofit sector managing public relations, marketing, event planning and community relations. Since opening her own business almost 18 months ago, she continues to see a need for entrepreneurs, startups, and nonprofits to learn how to better manage their resources, plan for marketing and create successful community partnerships. “I work with many online business owners and those with brick and mortar shops and the story is always the same,” Quinn said. “Allocating dollars for public relations and marketing is usually last on the list, and typically has very little funds allocated.” The course begins Sept. 11. Ten spots are open for this initial cohort. For more information, Quinn can be reached at Mindy@Wildflower.Marketing or 719-291-2098.
