Last summer, we took you all along on our nature getaway with Timberroot Rustic Retreats. Now, we’re sharing new stays to check out, The Inns by Timberroot.

You may recognize this cozy stay as the Lookout Mountain Riverview Inn, originally built in 1938. The historic inn was purchased by Rock City in 2017 and closed in March of 2024.

The folks at Timberroot have reopened the inn, now operating as a boutique hotel offering breathtaking views, luxurious amenities, and a serene mountain escape — just minutes away from Chattanooga’s downtown and iconic landmarks like Ruby Falls and Rock City.

When you book, choose from eight standard king rooms + two king suites. Each room has a private balcony for taking in the views of the Tennessee River with access to a shared hot tub, a seasonal pool, and the Skybox (think: a space to unwind with friends, enjoy a meal, or work remotely).

City Editor Kristen here. I was able to stay one night at Riverview Inn, and my favorite parts had to be taking in the views on the patio while sipping on some coffee, the cozy bed, and getting to curl up in the provided robe to head down to the hot tub. On a cool winter night, seeing all the stars and city lights from the hot tub was as magical as it sounds.

Bonus: Wanting to book a stay with that special someone? We recommend adding on the Romance Package which includes:

  • A dozen roses
  • Custom-scented bath products
  • Truffles from Uncle Lar’s Outpost
  • Rose petals scattered in the space
  • A complimentary bottle of wine or sparkling juice

While booking is now available for the Riverview Inn, make sure to stay tuned for future coverage of the next phase, which includes the addition of a coffee shop, farm-to-table restaurant, and the opening of the Lookout Mountain Inn.
