Each week, the Photo of the Day will feature a photo from the Chattanooga Public Library and The Chattanooga Memory Project. The Chattanooga Medicine Co. was located at 2005 Locust Street. Here is a photograph of the Chattanooga Medicine Wagon. The slogan for one of the company’s most widely advertised products was on the side of the wagon and reads “Are you a woman? Take Cardui, the woman’s tonic.” Z.C. Patten, one of the founding partners of the Chattanooga Medicine Co. sold the company to his nephew, John A. Patten. He started the advertising campaign which drew attention to Wine of Cardui and Black Draught medicines.
The Chattanooga Memory Project was created by the Chattanooga Public Library to capture the city’s history from the perspective of individuals, including current and former residents and visitors to the Scenic City.
