Photos, video: Miller Park’s transformation

After starting construction in July 2017, downtown’s Miller Park is set to have its grand reopening Friday with a day of activities. Government officials, along with business and nonprofit leaders, had a news conference Thursday to update media on the $10-million-plus project, which public-private entities funded. Fast facts

  • Green space/lawn: 25,500 square feet
  • EPB Community Stage: 1,568 square feet
  • Roof size: 4,500 square feet
  • Number of trees: 78
  • Types of tree: beech, yellow wood, witch hazel, tulip tree, black gum, oak of various species, redbud, maple, holly
  • Projector screen size: 33 feet by 25 feet
  • Number of windows on EPB Community Stage: 96
  • Rock outcrops: 11
  • Power plugs (traditional and USB) next to benches: 3
  • Limestone came from Alabama Stone
  • Grass is TifTuf Bermuda Sod
  • Sandstone caps came from Montez Quarry
