Lamp Post Properties is going to purchase the Mayfield Annex, and leaders said there’s potential for restaurant and retail on the ground floor and office space/tech startups on the upper floors.
“We went before the county today; we haven’t closed on it,” Lamp Post Properties President Tiffanie Robinson said Wednesday.
Constructed in 1907, the Mayfield Annex initially served as Lodge 91 for the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks, according to Nooga.com archives.
Hamilton County bought it and opened offices there in the 1970s. In 1983, leaders renamed it the Mayfield Annex in honor of former Hamilton County Commissioner Jack Mayfield, also according to Nooga.com archives.
Lamp Post Properties is a new development company that will focus on downtown and the Innovation District. It’s a new portfolio company of venture incubator Lamp Post Group.
Robinson said that in addition to bottom-floor retail or restaurant space and other office space, VaynerMedia will move into the building as an anchor tenant.
The development company is buying the building from the county for $200,000 and planning on putting $3 million into the changes, Robinson also said.
Lamp Post Properties wants to focus on drawing in unique businesses and retailers, and creating a distinctive office space throughout downtown.
In September, Lamp Post Properties bought Cooper’s Office Supply, which is located on Cherry Street. It also recently purchased the Ross Hotel, which is being rebranded as the Tomorrow Building, and the Cornerstone Building.
“Our goal as a development company is focusing on building the Innovation District and downtown with tech and high-growth companies,” Robinson said.
