More opportunities to work on Harrison Ford’s “42” announced

Authored By Mary Barnett

A new search is on for batboys, coaches, umpires and dugout baseball players to appear in Harrison Ford’s new movie “42” about the life of baseball legend Jackie Robinson.

Casting officials with Catrett Locke Casting in Atlanta sent out an announcement Monday morning detailing the additional talent search in the Chattanooga area.

Most work will be begin in May for scenes shot in the Scenic City at historic Engel Stadium, but some of the roles for players and coaches may include additional work in Birmingham, Ala., Macon, Ga., and Atlanta, officials said.

Renovation to Engel Stadium has already begun, and a production crew recently conducted camera tests at the site with many locals filling the stands.

The newest opportunities are in addition to the extras already seen by the casting officials last week during an open casting call in Chattanooga. Film representatives were in town on a quest to find “thousands” of extras to fill a variety of needs throughout the shooting schedule this summer.

Catrett Locke officials sent an email to their Chattanooga database on Monday to let them know a little bit more about how the selection process works.

“… Casting for the extras is an ongoing process. We will begin casting while we are shooting. So there is no need to ask if we had made our decisions. We will call you if you have been chosen for a specific scene,” said the email.

Below is the current listing of available opportunities as described by Catrett Locke. Additional information can be found here.
