Organizers with the Grateful Gobbler Walk are now taking registrations for the event.
This year’s walk-scheduled for Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 27-will be the 15th annual event. All proceeds will benefit the new Shelter for Homeless Families located at the Community Kitchen on 11th Street.

The cost to participate is $25 for those 13 and older. Children 12 and under can receive $10 tickets.
Teams and individuals can register to walk/run, volunteer and/or donate by clicking here.
The new shelter is Chattanooga’s first emergency shelter for families. Many facilities in Chattanooga have gender restrictions that result in intact families being separated.
According to a release from the race organization, fathers with young daughters are unable to be sheltered with their daughters, and mothers with young sons must be separated.
David Denmark, executive director of Maclellan Foundation Inc., said the new shelter will help defeat some of the challenges of homelessness.
“In Hamilton County, there are approximately 70 families, representing 200 persons, experiencing homelessness on any given night,” he said. “While this number is sobering, it also provides a baseline for targeting community resources.”
The 5K will begin at 8 a.m.
